Hoar frost

Sunday we woke up to the most BEAUTIFUL hoar frost!! The conditions have to be just right to get hoar frost, so it was a real treat!

The frost was so thick! I've never seen it that thick!

While some of it had melted by the time we got home from church, our tree in the front gets a lot of shade, so I was able to take a few more pics before it melted away.

SO BEAUTIFUL!

Hmm, I never knew it was called that. It IS beautiful, though! It was 72 here today. I even got a little bit sunburned at the park! Is this January?? I'm sure within a few days it will feel like winter again.

I'm so glad you got pictures of that. I missed doing that and I really wanted to. It was so beautiful. I kept looking at it while I was driving, not a good thing, but I couldn't help myself.

I have only seen a hoar frost once in my life and it was in Nova Scotia. I still remember how beautiful it was and occasionally look at the pictures. BTW, I didn't know it was called a hoar frost until your post and decided to look it up on wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frost#Hoar_frost
