We enjoyed our first weekend of beautiful weather! We have had nice days, but not a full weekend of beautiful weather like we did this weekend.
Saturday afternoon we decided to head out to Smith Rock (30 min North) since Brad hadn't been there yet. "They" claim this is where the sport of Rock Climbing began (http://www.outbackchannel.com/climbing/srtv/1986/index.html).
I thought it was cool to see this guy's shadow move up the wall with him

There were a ton of people out there climbing. At one time we saw 11 people climbing at once. Each group of climbers had about a half dozen people in them, so there was a lot of activity.
It really is an amazing place. It is like it was dropped by the Gods in the middle of ranch land.

Abby and Elise tested out their skills
If you blow up this pic you can see 2 climbers on the wall behind the kids

Lucky! I bet you are looking forward to a nice looooong spring and summer. Conversely, we are on the stretch run of our "nice" weather here and will soon be in the 100's. :( It was abnormally warm and 97 today, but we SHOULD have mid 80's throughout April. Maybe I can someday own a summer home in Bend and a winter home in Phoenix? A man can dream, can't he?
I love the shadow picture. So cool. And who are those BIG kids in the picture. Man they've grown up lately! Sounds like a great weekend. :-)
I think I would have had James on the rock if I allowed him. It looks pretty amazing!
What a fun day! You are so lucky to live near so many different things to do. I can only imagine how nice that 78 degrees felt on your skin! ahhh. Like Ben said it's warming up here so I'm looking forward to our next trip to Oregon.
Hi Tracey! I saw your blog from Shawna's. I can't believe how big your kids are! It doesn't seem like long ago that Samantha way a tiny baby. Anyway, I covet your residence in Oregon. I miss it so much there (from my mission). Bend was in my mission... never got to serve there, but I know it is beautiful!
By the way this is Natalie Hill (Mills) Brad's cousin in case you didn't recognize me! :)
This country resembles some of the parts of Northern Arizona. It has a rugged beauty to it. I enjoyed the pictures of your kids, especially the action shots.
Way fun! I keep wanting to do this with the kids. More hiking in general and at places like this. We've driven past it I don't know how many times.
